Jam Of The Day: Rod Stewart’s “Young Turks”

This song has the hair to prove that no music idea is too small to cover in a thin layer of Aqua-Net.

Keeping with the Valentine’s day theme, I spent most of my weekend in the house listening to hours upon hours of old Rod Stewart records. I’m not talking about “Have I told you Lately….how much that song sucks,” but albums like “Gasoline Alley;” “Atlantic Crossing” and “Tonight I’m Yours” with the danced-out- new wave song “Young Turks” (also known as Young Hearts).

Young Turks was released in 1982 and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was ranked #11 on the UK Singles and #3 in Australia. The term Young Turk is English slang for “rebellious teenager” or “someone the Lady might date if given the chance.”

This song makes me want to dance like Molly Ringwald in Breakfast Club because nothing is puts me in the mood for love like a song about being knocked up.
