Fresh off a disco twirl, this song puts some wind in you weave. You might have heard it being played in Boogie Nights, the most popular movie ever mentioned on the Lady Tiger Blog. Created in 1974 by German producer Frank Farian, Boney M’s sound is a combination of disco, reggae and R&B. With 4 founding members, one of whom has recently died, Boney M’s achieved popularity in 1978 with the release of “Rivers of Babylon/Brown Girl in the Ring” – the album our JOTD is featured on.
Aside from their inspirational contribution to fashion, Boney M really helped shape and pave the disco floor for electronic acts to come.
