Jam of The Day: Alright Hear This!

I haven’t jammed or jived for many days so it’s good to be back: Happy 4th of July.

Today’s jam is dedicated to Taco Party which is happening this evening, here, starting at 9PM. There’ll be fireworks both on and off the dance floor – and because I’m a hooker too – a little DJing by yours truly along with King Panos, Shaki and Stefan.

In 1984, a TV show called Graffiti Rock aired on WPIX in New York. It lasted only one episode. A pick up on the Soul Train/American Bandstand trend, GF was a bit too ahead of its time. Featuring up-and-coming hip hop artists, like Kool Moe Dee and Run DMC, it was hosted by Michael Holman

The Beastie Boy’s used a sample from Graffiti Rock on today’s jam. When they refer to hip-hop as a super vision, you understand, looking back, just how visionary and true that statement turned out to be.
