I have a very, personal attachment to the late rapper, Notorious BIG, for starters, like Uncle Roy and Uncle Barry, it’s Uncle Big in my house. I’ve always said that his death, which we all know came way too soon was such a tragedy because it came too soon. Hip-hop could use a little BIG today. 15 years after his murder, I’m not surprised that the LAPD pulled a double-whoops out of it’s hat. Talk about a slop-job. They can’t even be discreet about the autopsy results. Here’s how it all went down from an article I copied from MTV:
If you felt that the Notorious B.I.G.’s autopsy report was just released out of nowhere, you’re not alone. The surviving members of the rap great’s family were also unaware that the Los Angeles Police Department would be releasing the gruesome details of Biggie’s death this past Friday.
Well, on Monday (December 10), the LAPD apologized to the family of the slain hip-hop icon, born Christopher Wallace. “Due to an administrative error, the autopsy report was released prematurely. Robbery-Homicide Division detectives had intended to notify Mr. Wallace’s family prior to releasing the report,” read a statement released to the press.
According to the LAPD, they had hoped that the autopsy report, which revealed the trajectory of each of the four bullets that struck Biggie on March, 9, 1997, would help renew interest in the 15-year-old case and prompt new witnesses to come forward.
“Our detectives personally spoke with the Wallace family [Friday] night, and apologized for not notifying them prior to the release” Capt. Billy Hayes told the Los Angeles Times today. “Obviously this has been a challenging case for us to solve. We hope that witnesses or other people with information will come forward and give us the clues we need to solve this case.”
TMZ was the first with the documents, which revealed that though he was hit four times, it was one bullet which proved to be fatal. The deadly shot ripped through the passenger door of the SUV where the rapper was seated, entered his right hip and moved through his body hitting his colon, liver, heart and his left lung before stopping in his left shoulder.
The 24-year old MC was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.
Here’s just a reminder of what we’re all missing with BIG being gone:
